Trends
Winning Score
In 2015 and 2016 the winning scores were -7 and -12, but the last six events have been won with scores ranging between -15 and -21.
World Ranking
The world ranking of recent winners has been 773-147-100-285-626-103-285-92-291 (most recent first). Surprises can happen in this event, factor that into your Puerto Rico Open picks!
Correlating Courses
Look at other coastal events like the Bermuda Championship, the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship and Mexico Open.
Course Form
Six of the last nine winners were course debutants so course experience isn't important. However, since 2010, every winner who wasn't a debutant had previously posted a top 13 finish prior to winning.
Recent Form
Look for results at the Pebble Beach as seven of the last nine winners had made the cut at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am earlier that year. Echavarria had missed his last four cuts but was 12th at the Sony Open in Hawaii earlier that year.
Nationality
Since this became a PGA Tour event in 2008, we have had eleven winners from the USA, two from Europe, a South American and one South African.
Stats Analysis
There are no Strokes Gained statistics at the Puerto Rico Open so we revert to traditional stats.
Driving Accuracy
The last seven winners have ranked 56-58-56-23-62-1-22. We aren't factoring in Driving Accuracy to our 2024 Puerto Rico Open picks.
Driving Distance
The last seven winners have ranked 7-2-49-16-11-81-6. Several winners have used driving distance to their advantage but it is not essential.
Greens in Regulation
The last seven winners have ranked 2-15-3-8-4-1-14. Hitting Greens is the key to success at the Puerto Rico Open.
Putts Per GIR
The last seven winners have ranked 5-3-29-3-3-11-54. An ability to putt Paspalum greens is hugely beneficial.
In-Play
Tough Holes
The 1st and 14th have ranked inside the top three hardest holes in each of the last two years.
Birdie Holes
The 2nd, 5th and 18th play as the easiest holes on the course.
Closing Stretch
The 17th and 18th holes offer birdie opportunities, ranking stroke index 15 and 16 last year.
Fast or Slow Start
The last six winners have all been within five shots of the leader after round one. Five of the last six have been within four shots of the lead.

2024 Puerto Rico Open Round 3 Conditions
Once again sunny intervals with a consistent breeze.
2024 Puerto Rico Open Round 4 Weather Bias?
No, those with a chance to win will all face a wind of 15-17mph.
Round 2 Outright Market Summary
Ben Kohle has opened up a two shot lead after a sensational round of 63, a score which bettered the best of the week by two shots.
Kohles was a two time winner on the Korn Ferry Tour last year and certainly should be the strong favourite. One of those wins came exactly a year ago this week in Chile so if you subscribe to the theory around biorhythms this could well be the week for Kohles.
It may not be completely smooth sailing for the leader though. It is 12 years since Kohles held a 54 hole lead and performances when in contention have certainly been mixed. Kohles has only improved his position once on the last five occasions when inside the top eight after 54 holes.

Adrien Dumont de Chassart Top 20 Finish - Evens @ Betfred
The young Belgian opened with a round of 73 but has put in strong rounds to follow that up and he finds himself in tied 13th position going into the final round. He looks to have plenty of momentum and we saw last year that he is a player to side with when he gets a bit of confidence.

2024 Puerto Rico Open Round 2 Conditions
Play was suspended for several hours due to heavy rain and round one was unable to be completed. Conditions prior to the suspension were breezy but dry.
2024 Puerto Rico Open Round 3 Weather Bias?
No, the wind will pick up throughout the day but it will be a fairly consistent 13-15mph for the leading groups.
Round 2 Outright Market Summary
Joe Highsmith has three holes left to play of his second round and is the 5/1 favourite.
We'd be in no rush to back Highsmith for several reasons. Firstly, he must come back in the morning to finish his second round and will likely then have to hang around knowing he is the halfway leader. Others meanwhile will have to have a more leisurely morning before coming to the course.
Highsmith has also yet to win as a professional and whilst he could make his breakthrough this week, it is a difficult task to make that first win leading from the front for 36 holes.

2024 Puerto Rico Open Round 1 Conditions
Play was suspended for several hours due to heavy rain and round one was unable to be completed. Conditions prior to the suspension were breezy but dry.
2024 Puerto Rico Open Round 2 Weather Bias?
The wind will be considerably stronger after 11am, picking up to 16mph with gusts potentially stronger.
Round 2 Outright Market Summary
Rasmus Hojgaard edges 10/1 favouritism but will have to play the majority of his second round in the stronger breeze forecast for the afternoon. With 31 players currently at four under par or better, there are more tempting prices to be found elsewhere.

Matti Schmid 'Top Continental European' 7/2 @ Bet365
Schmid will play in the first group out in round two and will have a chance to make a score before the wind kicks up to 15mph later in the morning. He is currently on the same score as Rasmus Hojgaard but the bookmakers make the Dane odds on to win this market and that is a little premature in our opinion.
