Significant Info
This course hosted the Ryder Cup in 2018 and underwent changes to the course prior to the 2016 Open De France, therefore the events between 2016-2019, and the 2022/23 editions, are most relevant from a course form point of view.
European Golf Design, the firm tasked with the re-design, were also responsible for the 2010 course at Celtic Manor, Green Eagle Golf (Nord) and Marco Simeone GC.
The field will be much stronger this week than a traditional Open De France event.

Previous Open de France Trends
Winning Score
The winning score was 14 under par last year and 16 under par in 2022 with only two players finishing better than 11 under par. 12 under par won in 2019 whilst Alex Noren only won with 7 under par in 2018. The years between 2015-2017 were all won with scores between 11-13 under par and we should expect a winning score this week in the late teens with a better field and hardly any wind.
Course Form
Hisatsune was a debutant. Migliozzi had missed the cut in his only prior start. In 2019, Colsaerts had a couple of T11's previously but nothing special. 2018 winner Noren took a while to warm up to the course but had posted back to back top 10's before his win. 2017 winner Fleetwood had missed 4/4 cuts before his win in 2017. Course form helps but isn't essential.
Recent Form
Hisatsune had missed his previous two cuts. Miglozzi was in steady form with five top 40's in a row (no top 10's though). Colsaerts was having a poor year, with only one top 10 before his win in October 2019. Noren was in much better form before his win, with four top 25's in a row whilst arrived in red hot form too in 2017. Thongchai Jaidee was in fairly average form before his win in 2016. Form not essential, but has helped in some years.
Winner's Profile
Hisatsune was having a strong year on the DP World Tour. Migliozzi, Colsaerts, Noren, Fleetwood and Jaidee were all established winners on tour and every winner in the last decade has been the same. We should be looking for a classy winner this week.
Previous Open de France Stats
With the 2019, 2022 and 2023 editions most relevant, we will analyse the stats of the top four in 2019, the runaway top two in 2022 and winner in 2023.
SG: Off The Tee

SG: Approach
55-2-7-28-8-12-7. Strong iron play is generally required here.
SG: Tee to Green
19-3-2-34-9-28-19. A strong tee to green game is key.
SG: Around The Green
17-19-43-57-35-101-76. ATG isn't essential this week.
SG: Putting
2-12-23-2-16-5-9. A solid putting week is usually required around Le Golf National.
2024 Men's Olympic Golf In-Play Tips
Tough Holes
The final four holes can play really tough, in particular 18 which was the toughest hole in 2023, whilst it is also a tough start with 1,2 and 4 all averaging over par.
In-Play
Ten of the last thirteen round three leaders have not been able to convert, most notably in 2018 winner Alex Noren trailed by seven and Graeme McDowell trailed by eight!. Players have also come from two, three, four and five back (twice) in the last ten editions. Don't be scared to take on the leader on Sunday if he is vulnerable.

2024 Men's Olympic Golf Round 3 Conditions
A moderate breeze once again with sunny intervals. The greens firmed up after a couple of days of sunshine.
2024 Men's Olympic Golf Round 4 Weather Bias?
Sunny intervals with wind 5-8mph, no bias.
Round 4 Outright Market Summary
Defending champion, Xander Schauffele, remains market leader and has shortened to 6/4 to retain. The double major champ is full of confidence and that is shown in the prices, with Jon Rahm 21/10 despite being on the same score fresh off a win at LIV UK. Fleetwood makes up the trio of front runners at 5/1.
Despite the quality at the top, this is far from a three horse race and this course has a history of punishing third round leaders, with ten of the last thirteen round three leaders have not been able to convert. Yes, this was on the DP World Tour and the leaders this time are a different class, however it highlights that comebacks happen at Le Golf National. Our preview highlighted that 2018 winner Alex Noren trailed by seven and Graeme McDowell trailed by eight! Players have also come from two, three, four and five back (twice) in the last ten editions.
Of those looking to keep that trend running are Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy who are four back, and odds of 16/1 and 20/1 are attractive. Both rank outside the top 40 for putting and one hot putting round could change the dynamic.
Eye Catching Niche Market Prices
Rory McIlroy Top GB and Ireland - 12/5 @ SpreadEx
Rory is currently three behind Fleetwood but he has the momentum. Whilst McIlroy so often finishes fast, Fleetwood often flatters to deceive when given the chance and his driving has been below par this week.

2024 Men's Olympic Golf Round 2 Conditions
A moderate breeze once again with sunny intervals.
2024 Men's Olympic Golf Round 3 Weather Bias?
Sunny intervals with wind 5-8mph, no bias.
Round 2 Outright Market Summary
Defending champion, Xander Schauffele, remains market leader. The American is having a career best season and is a best price 15/8 to defend his title. Schauffele hasn't had his best off the tee so far this week, ranking 27th, but the rest of his game has been in fine shape, ranking inside the top 12 for SG: Approach, SG: Putting and SG: Around The Green.
Schauffele is the rightful favourite given his performances this year but this isn't a done deal given Matsuyama, Fleetwood and Rahm are in and around the lead.
Eye Catching Niche Market Prices
Matt Fitzpatrick Top 5 Finish - 10/1 @ Bet365
Fitzpatrick bounced back from an opening round of 73 with a second round 64 to catapult himself into 13th position. He's only three shots off a top five finish as it stands and a strong showing over the weekend should see him go close. His round two stats were strong, as you'd expect, and the 10/1 with bet365 is a market best price.

2024 Men's Olympic Golf Round 1 Conditions
A gentle wind didn't cause the players too much problems, along with softened greens after some overnight rain.
2024 Men's Olympic Golf Round 2 Weather Bias?
No bias as the field will enjoy perfect golfing conditions once again.
Round 2 Outright Market Summary
Scottie Scheffler has been overtaken in the market by Xander Schauffele who is two shots better off and two shots behind leader Hideki Matsuyama. Odds of 13/2 are still available on the leader which looks a nice price given his ability to close out tournaments. Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy kept themselves in touch after slow starts and this remains a tough puzzle to solve after one round. It will be difficult for anyone to beat those mentioned above and with only four places available, caution is advised.
Eye Catching Niche Market Prices
TBC.
