Significant Info To Be Aware Of
- This is the first time the Gotemba Course has hosted a DP World Tour event but it hosted the World Cup in 2001, an event won by the South African team of Ernie Els and Retief Goosen and it's been the host course for the Taiheiyo Masters on the Japan Tour since 1977 Championship.
Trends
Winning score
The last four editions on the Japan Tour have yielded winning scores of -12, -8, -8 and -6. This suggests it's going to be a tough test despite a classier field.
Stats Analysis
We have no stats available from last year's ISPS Handa Championship and Taiheiyo Masters on the Japanese Tour.
Course Quotes
"The Gotemba course is a beautiful, tree-lined parkland golf course with many views of Mount Fuji. It was well laid out by Japanese architect Shunsuke Kato in 1976. We left the green surfaces mostly intact, except for the par three 7th hole, where the green was rebuilt because the contours were too severe.
All tees were rebuilt. Some were added in order to increase length [and] improve angles. All the bunkers were reconceived and rebuilt in light of the character and demands of the modern game. Fairway lines were changed to provide fairer targets and reward properly-executed shots. Many closely-mown areas around the greens were created.
Most of the greenside ponds were reconfigured to allow for increased shot options and to create additional challenging hole locations adjacent to them. Trees and gardens are revered in Japan, so we were very selective in our tree removal... to allow for more sunlight to improve turf conditions on greens." Rees Jones (Designer)
“I used to be a member here. Since my amateur days, I've been playing rounds on this course, so that familiarity has definitely been an advantage," Shugo Imahira, 2023
"It’s my favourite course of the season so great to be playing on the weekend." Brad Kennedy, 2022
"Taiheiyo Gotemba is known as one of the toughest course in Japan, so when I was taking a walk around today, I was referring to my caddy that few of the holes reminded me of the ones from the US Open." Ryo Ishikawa, 2020

2024 ISPS Handa Championship Round 3 Conditions
Again, lovely conditions today with very little breeze and sunshine.
2024 ISPS Handa Championship Round 4 Weather Bias?
No bias with very little wind forecast, max of 6mph.
Round 4 Outright Market Summary
Casey Jarvis has taken the lead but it remains wide open with 16 players within three of the lead. Yannik Paul is a narrow 4/1 favourite, with Jarvis 9/2. Out of the two, Paul would be much preferred, Jarvis has had his struggles when in contention and even looked nervy in his last few holes today.
Home favourite Keita Nakajima finished strong yesterday and looks the big danger at 6/1, as does Mattieu Pavon at 14/1 one shot further back. We are quite keen to take on Paul and Jarvis.
Eye Catching Niche Market Prices
Shaun Norris Top 20 Finish 11/5 @ SpreadEx - This is a standout price with most pricing Norris around the evens mark. Norris is currently T21st, only one behind placing. He has been in great form recently, 2nd and 24th in his last two starts. Norris is vastly experienced and we can expect a strong final round.

2024 ISPS Handa Championship Round 2 Conditions
Perfect golfing conditions today with very little breeze and sunshine.
2024 ISPS Handa Championship Round 3 Weather Bias?
No bias with very little wind forecast.
Round 3 Outright Market Summary
Four players have now broken clear at 10 under par and it's an interesting mix of established DP World Tour winners Yannik Paul and Sebastian Soderberg, a player who looks set to win very soon in Sam Bairstow and a hot talent from the Japanese Tour. All have very credible chances but this course looks open to some movers from off the pace, as proved by Sato's 62 today. With the cut line at 3 under par, we can't rule anyone out at this stage and we should see plenty of movement in the leaderboard despite of the four that have made a breakaway.

2024 ISPS Handa Championship Round 1 Conditions
Perfect golfing conditions today with very little breeze and sunshine.
2024 ISPS Handa Championship Round 2 Weather Bias?
Similar to round one, scores should remain as good as can be on this course with very little wind forecast.
Round 2 Outright Market Summary
With 55 players within three of the lead, and much of round one still to play, this remains very open. Keita Nakajeima and Yannik Paul are 17/2 favourites after a strong start and out of the two, Nakajima would be preferred as he arrives full of confidence after his win in India a couple of weeks ago. It feels too early to be taking anyone at single figures though.
Eye Catching Niche Market Prices
Taiga Nagona First Round Leader 13/10 @ Bet365 - Youngster Nagano is tied for the lead with 7 holes to play and given the ideal conditions in the morning, he looks a value price to lead after 18 holes. Del Rey is one behind him, also with seven holes but the back nine played easier yesterday so Nagano should have the easier stretch to finish off.
