BIO
English capped a wonderful comeback with two wins in 2021 - Sentry Tournamnet of Champions and Travelers Championship - putting him into the world's top 20 for the first time. 3rd at the US Open was also his best major performance to date, one better than his 4th in 2020.
He won his first two PGA Tour events back in 2013 but had to wait eight years for his third. In 2019 he dropped outside the top 300 of the world before making his comeback.
Significant info
Harris has suffered a significant drop off in his putting performance since being forced to alter his putting grip at the 2021 Ryder Cup. Full details are set out in this article.
Pressure Performance Analysis
Summary
Harris' performance at St Jude has made us question what was becoming a very reliable final round player who had two playoff victories in 2021. He is best supported from a few shots back or tied for the lead pending further evidence. His Golf Betting Club Pressure Performance Rating is set to ⭐⭐⭐.
August 2021
❌ Led by 2 shots at the WGC Fed Ex St Jude. Shot 73 to miss out on the playoff by 1 shot. Completely fell apart on the back 9.
June 2021

June 2021
✅ Played the final five holes in 3-under to finish 3rd at the US Open. He never really had a chance to win though but a 68 was a great score regardless.
January 2021
✅ Won his third PGA TOUR title at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, defeating Joaquin Niemann in a playoff. Began the round tied for the lead. Made a birdie at the par-5 18th to force the playoff and another birdie on No. 18 to win on the first extra hole.
August 2020
❌ Finished solo-second at THE NORTHERN TRUST. Held a share of the first-round lead, falling to 1-for-3 with the 18-hole lead/co-lead in his career.
November 2019
❌ Finished fifth at the Mayakoba Golf Classic. Held the outright lead after the second round, falling to 2-for-4 in his career converting the 36-hole lead/co-lead to victory
Trends
Stays Hot
Form of 3-1-4 in 2021 and 3-6-33-4-5 in 2019 shows he can maintain his form.
Goes Well Fresh
Harris won the first event of the year in 2021 and also led the WGC most of the way after 3 weeks off. His first ever win at St Jude was after a week off too.
Matchbet Consistency
Harris only missed 7 cuts in 44 starts over 2020 and 2021.
Needs To Be On Form
Harris generally needs to be on form to record a big finish. He had 16 top 10 finishes between January 2018 and December 2021. Thirteen of those came after he had posted a top 30 finish in his previous start.
Events to back English
Sentry Tournamnet of Champions
Comfortable winner here in 2021 and plays well fresh.
WGC FedEx St Jude
Should have won here in 2021 when finishing 4th and a winner at this course back in 2013.
Playoff Record
2-1. Both victories in 2021 were in playoffs.
